Our flock began in 2023 with two striking rams from Lazy Bottoms Ranch in northern California. Lazy Bottoms Denali and Lazy Bottoms Atlas. From a long string of ancestral Gold Star Rams (see their pedigrees below), we selected them so their offspring could be sold together to form new flocks. Both developed handsome, regal faces surrounded by lengthening curvy horns. Their noses became increasingly "Roman," their manes thick and impressive, especially in the winter. One with a black nose, the other with pink, we welcomed their youngsters into the world over several seasons!
Unfortunately, in 2025 we suddenly lost Atlas, possibly from an elk stampede or a predator, we cannot be certain. Given our growing flock genetics, we also then decided to let Denali move onto another flock. We introduced Denali and Maggie May's son, SISU Chianti. Born on the ranch, Chianti impressed us from the onset with his amazing coloration and perseverance after a harrowing birth (he was a very big first lamb for Maggie May!). He carries his father's genetics and adds a new array from his maternal grandfather, Lazy Bottoms Churro. We are excited to see who he fathers this year!
We also decided to mix things up a bit, bringing in some new genetics from Washington. Young Wild Side Acres Rainier also has an impressive pedigree (see below) and joined his first breeding group last fall. We are eager to meet his offspring this spring!
